A long length handmade African Blackwood practice chanter with a nickel or brass ferrule from Kilberry Bagpipes.

Our long length chanters have the same finger spacing as our highland bagpipe chanters 

This chanter is fitted with your choice of a nickel or brass:

  •  ferrule
  • matching band sole 

We offer a choice of a plain ferrule in both brass and nickel; this allows you to have complete customisation over the look of your practice chanter! 

Your stunning practice chanters will be hand turned using the same tools, machines and wood used to make our bagpipes, smallpipes and chamber pipes. 

They produce a top quality balanced tone!

Each chanter is made to order, so please expect a small wait before dispatch.

Excellent chanter

I am very happy with my Kilberry chanter. Many practice chanters feel very imperfect or unremarkable. This one is a pleasure to look at and touch with its visible grain and heavy design, and a greater pleasure to play with its rich resonant tone. It feels like a true musical instrument in its own right. My challenge is to find a reed worthy of the instrument.

The practice chanter has an excellent sound. The optics are very good. It's great to play. A great handmade instrument that is a lot of fun to play with.
